Some horses are more prone to stress than others, but for many, even small changes in their routine can lead to equine gastric ulcer syndrome (EGUS), also referred to as gastric ulcers. Studies have demonstrated gastric ulcers in over 90% of racehorses and around 60% of performance horses in various disciplines – far more common than once believed.
Fortunately, EGUS can be avoided with ULCERGARD -- a targeted medication for proven prevention of gastric ulcers in otherwise healthy horses. To avoid gastric ulcers, deliver ULCERGARD paste during anticipated moments of stress, such as traveling, competition, stall confinement, and strenuous exercise. ULCERGARD is the only medication for horses proven safe and effective and approved by the FDA to prevent EGUS.
ULCERGARD paste can be used in horses that weigh at least 600 lbs. Safety in pregnant mares has not been determined. Not for use in humans.
ULCERGARD paste does not require a prescription and can be easily administered by a horse owner.
Give a daily dose of ULCERGARD at 1 mg/kg (1/4 tube for an average 1000-pound horse) on the back of the horse's tongue or deep in the cheek pouch. If any of the dose is lost or rejected, re-dosing is recommended. For horses 600 lbs to 1200 lbs, give one dose (1/4 tube) per day. For horses over 1200 lbs, give two doses (1/2 tube) per day.
ULCERGARD can be used in horses that weigh at least 600 lbs. Not for use in humans. Keep this and all medications out of the reach of children. In case of ingestion, contact a physician.
