Aspirin, or acetylsalicylic acid, is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is used in horses to relieve pain, reduce fever, for blood clotting problems, and as an anti-inflammatory agent. Most commonly prescribed in diseases where blood clot formation contributes to the problem.
