Butavet is a topical preparation used in horses. Hydrocortisone is a corticosteroid. DMSO works as an anti-inflammatory agent and allows other medications to readily penetrate the skin. Phenylbutazone is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).
